Compass Church : Lead Pastor
The Compass Church in Wichita, KS, is seeking a woman or man to be their next Lead Pastor. The congregation just entered a season of rebranding their ministry. For years they functioned effectively as the Wichita Northwest Free Methodist Church, but made the wise stewardship decision to sell their very nice but very expensive facilities and move into something more manageable. This transition, coupled with challenges from COVID and the realities of doing ministry in the United States in 2025, have seen the congregation lose some members. But there are still around 20 very committed persons in the church. They currently rent a former athletic center which they have completely remodeled. Because of the sale of their former building, the church has a substantial amount of savings from which the can draw to assist in this rebranding and relocating of their ministry.
The church is looking for someone to focus specifically on the revitalization of what God has been doing through this ministry for years. Though not necessarily needing a church planter, the congregation is hoping for a woman or man who can see the ministry grow through outreach, greater discipleship and deployment of the membership, and ongoing pastoral care. With specific gifts in
Sheperding/Teaching, Evangelism, and Administration, the church is hoping that the new pastor can help them not just survive the next couple of years but thrive as a vibrant, growing, Spirit-led part of the Body of Christ.
Given the funds available, the church is committing to 2 years of fully funding the pastoral position. They are offering $48,000 in salary for this full-time job, plus contributions to the FM Pension Plan. Though there are no other benefits, there is also a significant portion of the budget allocated for outreach and professional expenses of the pastor. There is no parsonage.
To apply, send a resume with related ministry experience, a personal vision of ministry and the role of the Church, and at least three references to Conference Superintendent Bruce Cromwell at bruce@crcfmc.org.
